The Jones & Haywood School of Ballet (Now the Jones and Haywood School of Dance) was founded in 1941[1], under the direction of Doris Jones and Claire Haywood, and eventually gained larger historical prominence in concert dance by becoming a ‘dance-feeder institution’ for Dance Theatre of Harlem and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
